Mentorship Program Coordinator
The Mentorship Program Coordinator will develop the 2nd year of the Division Mentorship Program. The Program matches students and emerging professionals with mentors in the fields of design and preservation. The Coordinator will be in charge of seeking applications, matching mentors and mentees, and facilitating long-distance interactions with the support of Division Leadership.
Writing Competition Coordinator
The Writing Competition Coordinator will develop the next writing competition or other type of membership competition. The Coordinator will develop the topic, advertise the competition, receive entries, assemble a review panel, and create a final publication with the support of the Division's Leadership.
2020 National Planning Conference (Houston) Local Host Committee Member
The 2020 NPC Local Committee will coordinate all aspects of the Division’s participation in the 2020 National Planning Conference. This includes, but is not limited to, planning the Division’s reception and business meeting, reviewing sessions for Division endorsement, and working with the Communications Team to develop marketing materials. These volunteers need to be located in–or familiar with–the Houston area.
Student Design Competition Liaison
The Student Design Competition Liaison will represent the Urban Design & Preservation Division for the National APA Student Design Competition. The work of the Liaison could include writing the competition prompt, assembling a jury, seeking out sponsorships, and reaching out to students.
The Policy Liaison(s) will represent the Urban Design & Preservation Division for National APA policy endeavors, including connecting Division work to policy initiatives and commenting on policy guides. The Liaison(s) will also update the Division membership on policy changes at the local, state, and federal levels on the topics of historic preservation and urban design.
Case Study Coordinator
The Case Study Coordinator will work with academic and research institutions to develop case studies related to current urban design and historic preservation issues. The Coordinator will need to have experience crafting RFPs and executing contracts
Webinar Program Assistant
The Webinar Program Assistant will work with our Webinar Program Director to support the Division’s award-winning program. The Assistant will seek topical speakers, develop marketing materials, and coordinate with the Planning Webcast Consortium.
