APA Urban Design and Preservation Division as Guest Host with Ohio APA Chapter
Has desktop analysis replaced boots-on-the-ground in-person site observation? We think not. The APA’s Urban Design & Preservation Division introduces Seeing the City—an experiential initiative (inspired by the likes of William H. Whyte, Kevin Lynch and Jan Gehl) that explores how structured walkabouts, creative documentation, and reflective in-person analysis can deepen our understanding of place. Speakers including public and private sector urban designers and planners will break down pilot walkabouts that served as live research platforms highlighting how experiential observation puts us directly in touch with place and builds connections between participants.
